If you service, repair, or paint vehicles at a business, this workshop is for you!  This workshop will introduce you to District environmental regulations and OSHA requirements. 

Who Should Attend?

Auto mechanics, shop owners and managers, fleet managers, stakeholders interested in vehicle maintenance, garage management, environmental regulations, hazardous waste requirements and best practices, and OSHA requirements.


All workshop participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

 

Speakers

Mary Lynn Wilhere

Sustainable Business Programs, Urban Sustainability Administration, DOEE

With more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Wilhere assists businesses to implement sustainable best practices and reduce their environmental impacts.  Ms. Wilhere has a business degree and a MPPA Environmental Management degree.

Clara Elias

Environmental Protection Specialist

Stormwater Management Division, DOEE

Ms. Elias is the stormwater pollution prevention coordinator for DOEE’s Stormwater Management Division where she provides outreach, education, and compliance assistance. She has over 12 years of experience in environmental protection and conservation, and holds a MS in Ecology from the University of California Davis. 

Olivia Achuko

Environmental Engineer, Permitting Branch, Air Quality Division, DOEE

Ms. Achuko has more than 25 years of experience working as a permit engineer in the Air Quality Division. In addition, she is the small business representative responsible for helping businesses understand at air quality regulations for specific sectors such as the auto body sector.

Victoria North

Environmental Protection Specialist, Hazardous Waste, Toxic Substances Division, DOEE

Ms. North has over eight years of experience providing outreach information related to Hazardous Waste to a variety of businesses.

Jacob Zangrilli

Environmental Protection Specialist, Watershed Protection Division, DOEE

Mr. Zangrilli is the lead inspector in the Water Quality Division and has eight years of experience in conducting inspections of industrial and commercial facilities throughout the District. 

Beth Mullin

Deputy General Counsel, Office of the General Counsel, DOEE

Ms. Mullin is an experienced environmental lawyer and leads the agency’s Office of Enforcement and Environmental Justice.

John Cates

OSH Consultation Program Manager, Department of Employment Services (DOES)

Mr. Cates is the OSH Consultation Program Manager in the DOES Office of Employment Services.  Mr. Cates provides technical assistance to many sectors in the District including auto body shops, marinas, dry cleaners, nail salons, or any business that works with hazardous waste.
